Work comes first
Starting a business here is possible, but keeping one open and profitable is hard. For most olim the first goal is a salary, and in our experience referrals are the fastest way to one. The job boards, the WhatsApp groups where hiring happens and the networks that mentor olim, all in one place.
Start where you are
Aliyah is a journey with stages, and each one has its own worries and its own deadlines. Pick where you are and see what matters now.
Weighing it up, no date yet. Eligibility, orientation and the big-money windows to know about early.
Opening your file with the Jewish Agency or Nefesh B’Nefesh, and the eligibility and document steps that go with it.
Approved and getting ready: documents, shipping, finances, the professional-licence groundwork and the flight.
The first weeks: ID, bank, phone and health fund, plus the one window that closes at 90 days.
The first year: home, work, Hebrew, schools and community, and the deadlines that quietly cost money.
Beyond year one: career, a home of your own, a business and building a life that sticks.

How each one works, what the law or the fair price actually is, and the words to use to refuse. Patterns, never named businesses.

These are the three complaints that come up again and again, and none of them are a personal failing. They are what happens when the process assumes you already know how it works.
Why not just use the free guides?
Because they go stale and present it as current. As of mid-2026 the Israeli government’s own New Immigrant Guide is dated 2022, and Nefesh B’Nefesh’s flagship post-aliyah PDF still reads 2020, on figures that move every year. Here, every benefit, deadline and number carries the day it was last checked, and when one goes stale the page says so instead of quietly lying. See exactly how current we are.
Who is behind this
My name is Yuri. I made aliyah in 2021 with my family, from the United States, and I built Aliyahu because the hardest part of coming home was never the decision. It was everything after it.
Built and kept current by Yuri Kruman, oleh since 2021.
Read the whole story →We will not tell you it is easy. The appointment may be months out, your income will probably dip before it recovers, and a clerk may ask for a document that was on no list you were given. Knowing that in advance is worth more than encouragement. What we can do is make sure none of it arrives as a surprise.
